My parents have been living in an independent living with enchanced care They have lived here for 6 years. They will be moving soon to a new facility to better meet their needs. The care they have received to date has been outstanding! And many of the caregivers have been with them through this time. They have become like family to us. I have been very involved in my parents care and multiple times each day verbally thank and encourage them. But I would like to give/do something a little more prior to moving my parents. There are 20 rotating caregivers. I thought about a luncheon but some would be unable to attend because it would not be during their shift and many of them work other jobs. Any creative suggestions? Thank you!

Hmm, if there are so many caregivers, it's a pretty tough thing to do. This is particularly so if they work different shifts. I think I would check with the facility to see what their rules were about gifts, then write each one a card and include a little gift in it if the facility will allow it.

Another thing you could do is to bring treats and leave them at the desk for everyone.

My Dad had caregivers from an outside Agency 24/7, thus I didn't get to meet everyone, especially the overnight shift but I knew their names from the schedule. It was Christmas so I got them each a nice holiday card and placed in the card a gift card from Target. I first checked with the Agency and they were ok with that :)

My mother lived in s small NH - not a huge staff but too many to be able to give individual gifts so this past Christmas I got a nice combo thank you/ Christmas card and a 5# box of See's chocolate to put out in their breakroom. My mom did have a private caregiver that has been with her part time for close to two years - first a few days a week when mom was in IL/AL and then in the NH one day a week acting as a companion. Mom passed away last week and id like to get something for her - not sure, but am thinking of a cash "bonus". I'm trying to determine an appropiate amount.

If the facility has a staff common room or kitchen you could get a shiny new something for that - a radio, a rug, a new set of china mugs, that kind of thing.
