After being a caregiver for both of my parents, I would NEVER expect my family to do this for me! It's too difficult and not necessary in our society.

How is it not necessary? I believe home care has extended my grandmother’s life during her happy years. Now that we believe we need a placement we can’t find a bed. We have been told nursing homes are not the best and she is in the in between (not able for assisted living - not needing nursing home care) there seems no in between. Respectfully my opinion

I also would not want my family performing my ADL’s for me. I’d rather spend quality time with them. This helps me to trust my parents when they said, I’ll go to a nursing home. I’m currently helping with IADL’s, which can have some challenges but it’s working out fine so far. I’m just grateful they can live at home with a little help from friends and family for now and that a nursing home isn’t the end of the world.

I doubt my children would devote the time and patience to care for me. I pray I don’t live long enough to need dementia care or have money for assisted living
