Now we are hearing in california, that 6 feet apart may not be far enough... so do wear your masks and gloves, and take another step back. Sometimes hte lines are long.. so I leave, and go back another time...
If you don't like the lineup and wearing the mask that extra time.. leave, comeback again when you feel it's more convenient...

I just saw on Court TV that thieves are getting away with a lot of crimes caught on camera, since it's normal now for everyone to wear a mask!! Masked Criminals are stealing lots of Amazon packages from houses, and even committing worse crimes. I just don't think the mask thing is going to hold up for very long; most people aren't even wearing them correctly (either not covering the nose, or only partially covering the nose and mouth), which just gives people a false sense of security. Just stay away from other people; I give it at least ten feet.

Funny that you brought that up, Gem. We have crime here. Everyone knows that. It’s concerning.

Recently two of our police officers were shot when they responded to a call.

Thank God they are going to live but the whole situation is tragic.

I will continue to stay at home and distance myself until there is a vaccine available because I'm in the high risk group. People facing a normal risk level will take more chances and exercise less social distancing and personal protective measures. I believe we can find a balance that works.

Personally I'm adding a couple of picnic tables to the porch and yard and I intend to visit with people outside over the next few months and only allow a very few people also practicing social distancing in my home. While my brother continues to work in a factory, we will visit on the porch. TN has a tuition free public home schooling program already available and we might just use that for the kids in the fall. The boys might attend football practices on the field later this summer, but we're already thinking no locker room contact. There are lots of things we can do to reduce risk while still returning to a more "normal" life. I've purchased a document camera/projector so I can remote tutor the kids. My nephew is adding a "summer" bath with an outdoor entrance to the working garage so kids visiting the pool this summer do not need to enter the house. We're not going to invite the football team over but some neighborhood kids and cousins will be here for an occasional day or two. I will stay in the house and watch them through my windows, put some food out on the picnic tables, and then spray the tables down with a Clorox or Lysol mix. It's not a zero risk, but it will be a low risk life style.

This afternoon I went to a local take out place... This homeless man, I am assuming, was very agitated and wanted to complain to management about his order.. He was excessively obnoxious and offensive. I didn't like the vibe. And I didn't feel like being alone outside with this being... He wanted front row and center to management. I let him, no confrontation... I went back to my car, and walked my dog a bit before I could order. At least I was not alone, and she is awesome. Although she doesn't understand the mask.. I tried.but we were not going inside a take out place. we were just going to wait for the food. The guy finally left.. but, my shep helped me calm down a bit too. She got extra treats today. Maybe I will try the mask on her again tomorrow... She really doesn't even like the style on me.

MAYDAY - there are many many public home school programs to choose from. Lessons can be done via online or online with teachers, or textbooks, or small classroom setting, or combinations of these. My kids have been homeschooled since kindergarten and my oldest daughter is going to start high school next year. For my OD, homeschool is the best approach for her education. For my YD, either way works, so she is going to try out brick and mortar public HS in a few years.

There are cavalier attitudes everywhere. Those that think this is overblown and quarantine unnecessary, that people die. That won't change until some of these people get the virus or it effects their loved ones. Then tell their stories and others with similar attitudes pay attention.

This is true. We have over 25,000 confirmed cases now and I just saw where we have nearly 1500 deaths. It is very sad 😞.

Oh, and the idiot pastor at the Pentecostal church in Baton Rouge, Louisiana has been arrested! Yep, he has been warned over and over. Well, now he will get his day in court and pay a fine for his selfish ridiculous behavior! He was led off in front of his church in handcuffs.

People died because they went to a service with over a thousand people in attendance for Easter.

I have a daughter living in Baton Rouge, attending Louisiana State University. Pastor Tony Spell isn’t a caring Christian leader. He’s on a huge ego trip! His latest thing is telling his congregation to donate their entire stimulus check to the church. He is certifiably crazy!

Today is my 42nd wedding anniversary! I don’t take our love for granted. This year more than ever, I appreciate how blessed we are to have each other. He is the love of my life.

No one wants to live the way we have been these last several weeks but safety must come first and has to be our number one priority.

Our governor is a responsible man and not rushing to reopen anything that isn’t absolutely necessary at this time.

Our mayor is being responsible as well. They absolutely feel it would be irresponsible not be cautious in light of our serious situation here. We’re still considered one of the hot spots.

Take care, everyone. Respect and love each other. We will grow and learn from this if we all work together for the common good.

Life is short. Cherish what is good in your lives. The rest doesn’t matter. Have faith. Support our frontline workers. They need us. God knows, we need them!

Sweden remains open. Sweden has 10 million people with a confirmed total of 3,447 cases and 105 deaths. Swedish authorities have advised the public to practice social distancing and to work from home if possible, as well as urge those over 70 to self-isolate.

Swedish nightclubs and outdoor cafes remain open. The country has limited public gatherings to 50 people, a more modest restriction that takes effect Sunday. Officials have said keeping people physically and mentally healthy is another reason they’re keen to avoid rules that would keep people indoors for too long.

Per Sweden’s chief epidemiologist: “The goal is to slow down the amount of new people getting infected so that health care gets a reasonable chance to take care of them." He argues that Sweden’s less restrictive policies are more sustainable and effective, even if they are an “anomaly” during the pandemic.

The goal is NOT to be ABSOLUTELY SAFE and have ZERO cases. THAT IS NOT POSSIBLE. The only way to be absolutely safe is to be dead.

We are shut down. We have had a significant amount of funerals and funeral directors must tell the family that only 10 people along with social distancing.

Our governor is desperately trying to flatten our curve. I am glad that he and our mayor are being responsible during this crisis. I pray for all frontline workers. They are working so hard in our city.

My husband would be in total agreement with you! Me too. You’re a doll.

He didn’t want to disappoint me by not getting everything on my shopping list so he said he kept his distance from others as much as possible and went as quickly as he could.

He did write the email to them. He did receive a call back from the manager and was sorely disappointed with his response. He was quite cavalier about the whole situation.

He is only shopping at Whole Foods. They are doing a wonderful job complying with all recommendations from our mayor and governor.

We have always shopped at both stores but will absolutely be loyal to Whole Foods now.

The main objective of each of us to wear a mask is so we protect each other from our droplets. It is to prevent the spread. It may not be foolproof but it helps.

It’s a ‘I will scratch your back and you scratch mine.’ kind of deal.

We have to get everyone on board with this. If people naively think we can slack off they are deceiving themselves.

We can look at the stats in the hot spots and see how rapidly this Covid-19 can spread. It doesn’t take long. We were one of the fastest growing areas. It’s awful.

This isn’t our first go round of a challenging health disaster in New Orleans. Long ago many people died with yellow fever here. Google it. It was heartbreaking for our city.

We must learn from these disasters and do all that we can. I am proud that we have a mayor in our city that cares enough to take this so seriously. I am grateful that we have a governor for our state that is looking out for our best interests as a whole.

New evaluations will be made as we see how things progress. For us, these are still tough times.

I went in grocery for first time the other day. The store is now requiring all employees to wear masks, but when I was in there I guess about half were wearing them. I noticed that a few shoppers, when they saw me with mask, suddenly pulled their scarfs over their nose ( lot of good that would do) but I have immune problems so I won't take chances. It seems to me that men are less likely - a macho thing like ' oh it's not as bad as people say.' Interesting that several people who were online telling everyone that it was a hoax are now dead! Publix here seems to be more conscientious about cleaning and wearing masks. I would say Walmart would be the worst maybe - although now with limiting people it may be better. With so many people silently spreading it, it would be foolish to not wear a mask, I think.

Wow! Not a glowing interaction with the store's manager. :0(
That's too bad...
I have noticed the same thing at the main grocery store in my town. I only go out of house for groceries, once - every 7-10 days, as my 84 year old Mom lives with me and has only one lung. (Am terrified I will bring something home to her.) so I glove and mask and sanitize, before, during and after venturing out. I was AMAZED at how many folks are just "rolling the dice"...I guess it is their prerogative, but it feels very unsafe, scary and certainly uncaring.
Seems like we see the self-serving ugliness of folks, especially during Christmas Shopping season and now during Covid...

Oh gosh, does anyone remember the sleepless nights when we hosted sleepovers?

Though we can't get masks of medical quality, something is better than nothing. I bought 3 masks online from a lady sewing to earn some money. A neighbor is sewing masks now. I would have bought from her, but she's just getting started and I did not want to wait. It's pretty easy to wear a mask, it's inexpensive, and easy to wash/dry. Additionally we don't have to wait for the government to mandate we at least try to save ourselves. It's also a good idea, because if we aren't sick we can still be a carrier of the virus and we may be helping someone else by wearing the mask.

Good news, my daughter said the store by her finally started placing tape on the floor near checkout lines to separate shoppers from standing too close to one another. She said more people started wearing masks.

Bad news, her anxiety is up, I didn’t realize how much this was bothering her. She seemed like she was handling it well. She called me yesterday to chat and told me that when a shopper gets too close to her in the store she holds her breath and tries not to breathe.

She only has one week left of online classes at her university and then finals before graduating. She’s stressed because she has interviews lined up in Denver and the airline has canceled flights.

I don't believe wearing or not wearing a mask is political in any way. People are stubborn, dumb, unaware....a host of things that might make someone not wear a mask, even when mandated.

We wear them in my state and I am glad. I haven't been in a store in a while, but I hope I see employees wearing masks when I do go into one. I think I would send an email to corporate if I spoke with a manager who had a flippant attitude.

In my county it is mandated to wear a mask in public places. Gloves are not. They actually do nothing. Anything you touch goes on the gloves. You touch other things and whatever is on the gloves transfers. People are wearing gloves from place to place and not changing them. Washing your hands and using hand sanitizer is much better than wearing gloves. Gloves are for medical personnel who change them in between patients.

2 ER docs talking about the realities of the data after treating covid patients for 2 months and examining the science. We may in fact be wrecking our immune systems by NOT exposing ourselves to germs and viruses. What will happen when these orders are lifted? The sickness levels are bound to rise up THEN.

It's a long video, about 55 minutes, but very interesting. I'm sure they're not saying to expose the very elderly to the virus, but for the rest of us, it may be high time to lift these restrictions and get back to everyday life.

Well 3 guys in my department wouldn’t wear one. They are all around 25 years old. The 3 of them were told to go home, so they did. I texted one of them to get his mask on before he gets in trouble. A major issue with masks I feel that if it is mandated there should be a certainty that there is availability. For example our oldest daughter and her husband have their own small business in Houston. The govenor recently eased restrictions for the state but the mayor of Houston mandated that all people over the age of 10 must wear masks in public and a certain extreme judge stated he would impose $1000.00 fines on those who didn't. Now how is that at all fair? First of all it is a terrible hardship. My daughter has found some private sources for masks for her employees but they are limited as they are individually made. All major sources have been sold out for months. If restrictions are to be imposed on such a large city as Houston then there should be the absolute knowledge that the supply is available. As if there is not enough stress with her children not in school, making the rent payment which can be postponed but not reduced, significant inventory meant for this very time period and obviously not the same desire for it, she has to outsource masks with just the right amount for each employee or risk a punitive fine at a point where income is greatly reduced.

I heard about higher fines in certain areas. That’s a big chunk of change, isn’t it? Wow...

I do feel sorry for people who have small businesses. They are all going to take a hit.

We have stipulations too. Our governor placed fines for people putting others at risk such as Pastor Tony Spell holding large services in his Pentecostal church with over 1300 people present.

That was foolish and dangerous to risk infections and deaths which happened. People became infected and died.

When he was asked why didn’t he stream services like other churches he responded by saying, “I can’t stream because I have to lay hands on people to pray for them.” That’s fine if a coronavirus wasn’t in the air. Not a good idea to be touching each other now.

Please! Does he even understand that social distancing means NOT touching each other? So sad to see these situations. He will get his day in court and will most likely be fined. Then again, I am not surprised by his actions. He also claims to pray away HIV and cancer.

Yes, for believing Christians miracles happen but that doesn’t mean common sense is thrown out of the window where people are placed at risks by being careless.

We have people sewing masks and donating. I have been sewing many, many masks to donate and still doing so. I hope people are sewing masks in their area to donate to those in need.
