Recently moved in with 92 year old mother in law. She has accused us of planting microphones, blocking her phone where she cannot make calls, and recording her calls among other things. She says we have said things we have never said. The blocked phone accusation has come up multiple times. How do we respond?

My dad is the same. He has dementia. Keeps telling everyone that my mom and my 2 dogs have been plotting to kill him. I took him to the ER last week and he told the ER staff that I beat him; I've done no such thing. It's the dementia. Take a deep breath and a few steps back. and do your best to not take it personally. Wishing you all the best!

vmtownsend, sounds like Mom has some dementia going on, or either a urinary tract infection, have both checked out.

If Mom continues with the accusations, just go along with whatever she has to say... just remember, her brain is broken thus she is unable to reason.

Here is a good article to read about accusations that I found here on Aging Care. https://www.agingcare.com/articles/how-to-handle-alzheimers-disease-lying-144204.htm
