Seems like healthcare etc are viewed as basic human rights in these countries, whereas here in the States they have been viewed as privileges with public programs poorly adminstered (ie Medicaid)

Find Care & Housing
I don't know but I know the US does a poor job of caring for the aged poor. Sad. I think we're on the bottom of the pile as far that goes. Yet, if you have money to get a good attorney, you can have lots of assets, given away the proper way, and you can be on Medicaid. I don't get it. I went to a legal seminar and I could not believe the things I was about how to scam Medicaid. One couple had $800,000 in an IRA, and all they had to do was put it in the name of the person who was well, and the other one got Medicaid. Something's very wrong with that. The attorney who was speaking has his own "special needs" daughter on Medicaid. This is a real shame to me.
