I was able to donate my mom's walker and raised toilet seat to the assisted living center where she lived after she moved to long term care. Later, I donated other items including a wheelchair, rollator, and power recliner to a friend whose daughter owns a residential care home. She was also interested in much of my mom's furniture, kitchen appliances, etc.

Original date.. MAY 2019.. oh well.. It looks like more people need to know how to either donate or get medical beds. So, it may not be all that bad of an issue to keep it current.

just the bed, not the mattress, right? Have you tried placing an ad in your local Craigslist - free stuff, Must pickup.. Or try NEXTDOOR. your local neighborhood internet site.

Assisted living facilities. Nursing homes, call them and ask if you could place a good old fashioned ad on their bulletin board.

I have cancer again, and when I was declared cancer free last year, I gave my bed to a lady here in London. Do you still have the bed? If you do, I would love to relieve you of this bed.

I am looking for a donation of a hospital bed. Where are you located? Do you still have the hospital bed for donation? We are in Dallas, Texas. My name is Paige and a quick question is the hospital bed electric? Does it have a remote that can move the bed up and down? My friend is on disability and a senior which can't afford to purchase a new bed. She is coming home from the rehabilitation facility within the next two to three weeks. I appreciate your kindness. Look forward to hearing from you. Best Wishes

There are several things at work here. First of all the need for this sort of thing comes in waves. Secondly I have found that people want things for free and they tend to also want you to bring it to them. Crazy, yes I know.

I’m surprised you did not have good luck on Facebook marketplace. My suggestion if the church call doesn’t work, is to contact a nursing home or private care home or assisted-living that you know handles low-income residents. Also they are very unlikely to take a used mattress.

I know when I had a relative he had to move into a nursing home the beds there were in poor condition. So many of them were manual.

When my uncle died my aunt donated his very nice hill ROM bed to a nursing home where my grandmother resided and she ended up using that bed while there.
