Which is safer for a fall prone female 88? Costs are about the same. I've been told you can't answer that kind of question. Which makes me suspicious.

i agree with terrim. nursing homes are notoriously understaffed and the quality of help sometimes borders on a freak show.

I would keep her in the comfort of her own home. Moving somewhere unfamiliar can be extremely stressful for an 88 year old. Also 24/7 care would be there to see she didn't fall or to help her if she did. If she was in an assisted living apartment with episodic care, it is likely that no one would be there to keep her from falling or to pick her up if she did and she might lie there for many hours before anyone checked. I'd go for the 24/7 in home care. I would also put up "nanny cams" without the knowledge of her caretakers to make sure no one is hurting her.
