Family needs assistance for one transfer handle (bathroom tub), two grab bars for shower walls, and widening doorway to bathroom for wheelchair to fit. pt is on CIMA hospice and not ambulating steady. I am patient's social worker and advocate.

If the patient is on Hospice, there is not enough time to get the estimates, schedule the work, get the permits etc. At this point, you have the unhappy job of telling them the home is not handicap accessible, no room for the wheelchair or hoyer lift to maneuver. Probably not enough room in the bathroom for a second person to get in there and assist the patient, so there is a huge fall risk. Your other option is a commode in the bedroom and give the patient a bed bath weekly.
