You don’t need a nurse, just a friend.

Since you will be having “twilight” anesthesia (a lighter dose of sedative than “general anesthesia”), they will not release you if you are driving.

Once you are home you won’t need supervision, just rest.

Sorry, but they may require someone be with her for next 24 hrs. Twilight is still anesthesia. Everyone is different in how it effects them.

You don't need transport to go for the colonoscopy, the issue is only afterwards. I once waited 5 hours, and I'm glad I went by taxi so no-one was waiting for me. Where I go, they like you to have someone with you for a few hours afterwards, just in case there are complications (very unlikely). But I've gone home by taxi as well. Just don't try to do anything dangerous. Good luck with the prep - it's much worse than the colonoscopy!

Apparently in our area there are transport services a person can call to get them to and from Dr's appointments. My mother is pretty much non ambulatory now and it's hard to get her in a vehicle to go to appts. I haven't used these services for her yet but I had inquired about this when EMS came to my home one time and that is what they suggested.
