Unfortunately there isn't likely an easy fix - how often did you spend the night with your parents, are you certain that this is some thing new and he hasn't been sundowning for a long time?
Early onset dementia is the saddest. My FIL was also diagnosed in his 60s. Seems more of a "normal" life cycle thingy in your 80s but not in your 60s!
Anyhow, is he on any meds for this? Was it an issue before mom went in hospital? How long is it expected that she will be gone? Will she be able to care for him when she gets back home?
Can you talk to your mom about this now? Can she call his doc or can you take him?
