Hello, I’m going to short everything up as much as I can. My father had a previously stroke that left him unable to speak and left side brain damage. I had Conservatship over him due to his stroke even though my father wasn’t there for me growing up or even when I was grown. But I felt bad for him and stepped in. He went to rehab for 2 months and has been with me for 3 months now. The rehab had told me he was progressing really fast, so I had felt so bad for him and he’s not able to clean, dress, or do anything for himself so I thought.

I have two kids 6 and 1yrs old and a 16 yr old niece I’m taking care of. I would put my father first before everything because I really thought he needed help. He would’ve screamed for me to run to his room just for him to only want me to grab a blanket laying on the floor right in front of him. After a while I started feeling like my father was coming back to himself and able to do more. But I wasn’t for sure until he had to go to the emergency room and he did everything the dr said. I had thought he was incoherent but he isn't. Then he had his follow up appointment with another doctor whom he did everything they asked him to do. Moving forward, he recently had a dr appointment with his primary care provider because I was looking to put him into a nursing home or assisting living because I’m not able to take care of him anymore. He acted like he understood everything she said.

I’m telling her he is using it on my floor and won’t do nothing for himself. She tells me he can understand and isn’t eligible for nursing care... And doesn’t need 24 hr care. He knew I was looking to take him in nursing care. But soon as he got home he acted like he couldn’t open the door and put feces on my floor and acted as if he couldn’t do nothing for himself. He can’t dress, clean, feed, or anything for himself. I’m having to change a 1yr old and a 60 yr old. I’m so exhausted. I need to get back to work and I feel like they’re forcing me to take care of him. He has no income right now but currently has pending disability but I need to get back to work financially. What are my options? I don’t feel like his doctor is right about him not going to a nursing home.

What you do is take him to the ER or call 911 for some reason to get him to the ER - and then you refuse to take him home. A social worker will get him placed. Video tape the feces etc.

"I feel like they’re forcing me to take care of him" - who are these people?  The medical community?   Your father?

You can not have this man taking advantage of you and putting your children at risk! E-Coli is extremely dangerous and he is contaminating your house. Call his primary doctor and TELL them you can not keep this visitor and you must take him to the emergency room again and won't be released to your care.
