Has anyone tried “bed bumpers” as opposed to “bed railings” on your family member’s bed?

My Mother has these. First time I saw them was once hospice come in. They ordered Mom a bed and these bumpers were on it.

made more sense for Mom....but, she was too frail to be able to get over these extremely soft bumpers....so it made more sense to have these comfortable bumpers than a railing, and safer for her too.
