It is not appropriate for the druggist to ask for more cash than the medicines cost.

It is not appropriate for the butcher to ask for cash above and beyond the price of the purchase.

I think you get the picture. It is not appropriate for hired caregivers to ask for cash above and beyond their salary. (If they think they deserve more they can try to negotiate a raise with the party that pays them.)

A customer may occasionally offer a gift of extra cash to a service provider who has done something especially appreciated and beyond the job description.

For a service provider to try to take advantage of a client's attachment is not appropriate.

Sam, If you were paying your dad's bills, then she'd have to go through you first. Maybe it's time to think about that. Don't want your dad's trusting nature to be taken advantage of.

I am a paid caregiver and that is an absolute red flag..... no way should that be allowed to continue...I understand your dad really 'likes' her, my charges really 'like' me, but taking advantage of an elder is wrong no matter the circumstances.... you may want to speak to her about this.... me, I'd fire her. but that is me....but if you let it continue without addressing it, it will continue...
