Has anyone had good/bad luck with Aricept?

My mom has been diagnosed with moderate dementia. Her primary physician wants her to take Aricept. I read that Aricept has some bad side effects. Does it help with the memory enough to take the risk of side effects? When I ask the doctor I don't get an answer just that I need to decide.

Aricept does not improve memory, it just slows down the progression of Alzheimer's. IF mom has had brain imaging that shows Alz, OK. If the MD is just guessing, find another MD.
