We have one that has a button they wear and a speaker in single room. Dont do it if they can't hear. They have ones now where they talk through the pendant to you. We use Home Technology Solutions in Ks and pay $35/mo with no problems other than dad can't hear but like they call me before EMS.
Sweet William- do they want one? If they don't want it they won't use it. If it is ordered by their MD, it should be covered under Medicare. Otherwise, you will pay about $30 a month out of pocket.
