Find Care & Housing
Dear Patty,

I know this is very hard issue because its so personal. And no one wants to made to feel embarrassed about their bathing. Is there a medical reason he doesn't want to bath daily? Or even every second day? I guess it depends on the circumstances. Do you need home care? Does he need grab bars installed? A bath chair to sit it? I know its not easy, but hopefully some of these suggestions will encourage him to bath more.

Bathing daily isn't really necessary for most elders. Good bathroom hygiene is. Cwillie has given good advice about that.

Get him to use wet wipes after a bowel movement. There are flushable ones but plumbers caution they aren't really plumbing friendly, so I would personally opt for baby wipes as long as you can be certain he will dispose of them in the trash.
