Mom will sleep until 11pm if I let her. Dad will be hungry but not get himself anything to eat without Mom eating with him. I have asked Mom to help with this in the past and nothing has changed. The only solution I see is to stick to a schedule of meals that I prepare or are easy for Mom to make like a sandwich. I have to home school my two children and take them on outings. Does a schedule of meals and eating times sound reasonable? With snacks listed and out so Dad can get to them easily as he is getting around via a walker since his recent hip surgery. Any ideas and suggestions will be greatly appreciated!

YES SCHEDULE !!!!! no excuses !!! my opinion anyway.
Up at 5:30 a.m. to watch the News and have coffee. Dressed after coffee at 6:30, and breakfast at 7 a.m.,,Away from the table at 7:30 a.m to make their beds. Exercise their bodies with Music playing or they can listen and tap their foot.,,Not allowed back in the bed until nap after lunch for 45 minutes, Up for a shower,,,,then sit to read the newspaper and have a snak. No watching TV. Put their clothes out Unfolded and have them fold them or stack paper plates in color code....After last meal NO MORE DRINKS after 7 p.m. None!......bedtime will be at Dark. Sweet Dreams.

Is mom on meds for depression? That will slow her down somewhat also. Your version of her daily routine and her version to the doctor will probably never be the same. I've learned that after 25 yrs in ems. what my patients would tell me usually differed than what they would tell the hospital staff....:) You might post their daily schedule, just in case they would "forget" what should be done on what day. Good luck!

No meds that make her sleepy. Sometimes it's pain that makes her want to stay in bed.(At the Dr's visits she says she does not sleep that late) Maybe I need to get her checked for fibromialga. Of course, her depression adds to it. Will start sticking to schedule starting tomorrow!

that is a perfect solution......I have found with my MIL that a routine is best and she is so much easier to work with. Is mom on meds that make her extra sleepy? That may be why she sleeps so late. Set your schedule and stick to it just like you would with your children.....you will all be the better for it.
