My mother is very fragile and weak can barely get around even with her waker. She fell the other day and tore a pretty bit of skin, had it patched up at a UTC then the next morning took her to the hospital she was disoriented, her speech was garbled was worried she may have had a stroke. She was admitted and every test under the sun was preformed nothing was found. She stayed over night and home the next evening. Had I known about the Medicare 3 day inpatient in order to have an order wrote for rehab I would have insisted she stayed. She is an ovarian, lung and brain cancer survivor and has a bit of neurological issues.

I believe but am not sure that you could take her to one of her doctors for a followup and that person could order home health care. I'm not sure about inpatient rehab though. All of ours has been directly from hospital to rehab to home care.

You could take her to a neurologist for further exploration on a stroke (such as having an MRI performed) or to an ortho doctor for anti-falling therapy.

I assume they checked for a UTI and dehydration?
Medicare determains how long a patient is in the hospital. If three days, then off to rehab till person is as far as rehab can take them then discharge. Take her to her primary. Ask if she can have home therapy. Next question...u don't give Moms age. Do u think maybe its time to take her in or find a nice facility?
