I found someone to assist with my folks through Care.com, and she's worked out quite well. I know the site also has housekeepers. Depending on where you live, there could be any number of people for you to interview for the job. Good luck.

Check your phone book for your local agency on aging. In our area, it's called the "commission on aging", but may be called something else where you are. Services vary from agency to agency and state to state (in the U.S.), but many of them will be able to provide you some help with cleaning at a decent rate, or possibly be able to provide it on a donation basis, depending on the situation. If they can't provide it, they may be able to give you a list of names of reputable housecleaners for hire.
