I have been my grandmother's caregiver for just over a year now and I take care of her in many different ways and I've heard from a few people I could get caregiver pay. Is this true and how can I get this started? Thank you so much!

It depends on your state and whether or not your grandmother is on or qualifies for Medicaid. What state do you live in?

elebay, the majority of grown children/grandchildren do not get paid for taking care of their parents/grandparents, unless that parent/grandparent can pay the grown children from their own retirement fund.

As staaarrr had mentioned above, you can check to see if your Grandmother could qualify for Medicaid [which is different from Medicare]. Some States have programs that will pay for a relative to take care of a love one, but the pay is quite minimal. Programs are always in a change mode depending on the State budget.

You can have a lawyer draw up a CG contract, and get paid by GM if she has the money.
, as FF says above. I understand it is hard to be paid by the state.
