Food stamps for seniors?

I own my own home. However, I cannot get a reverse mortgage on this home as it (beautiful as it is) is in a senior park. Is it possible for me to get food stamps? I can hardly live on the ss ck I receive every month. I eat my large meals at the Senior Center for $5.00. I have no means of getting to my money other than selling my home. I would happily do that but the market is so depressed and I would not get that much. Any suggestions?

Oregongirl - go to the Oregon Food Bank web site. You will find information regarding their program plus information for additional resources such as Meals-on Wheels.

Most Senior Centers have a help desk with information on food stamps (SNAP) HEAP for Heating and Cooling and other services. Ask there.

Call the Area Agency on Aging, perhaps they know of resources that you could use.
