My elderly mother will be moving in with us. Although she gets around ok, stairs are a real issue for her and can't be avoided in our house. We have looked into stair lifts but, it is not an affordable option for us. Is there someplace that might help pay for a stair lift? Or is there another device that may help her with stairs?

Find Care & Housing
Thank you for the information. She is a difficult person and has already been thrown out of a rehab center. So, assisted living is not an option. In addition she/we do not have the resources. We have created an area where she can live independently but still have us in the same house. We're keeping our fingers crossed!!

No assistance for stair lifts. You may want to rethink her moving in, and find an assisted living facility that she would actually enjoy. Believe it or not they appreciate the company of people their own age. Talk to the MD.
