They have no money ,living with me and my husband and children my apartment, they are $40,000+ in debt mom has Alzheimer progressing and there is a very very long wait for subsidized apartments near me. she needs care isn't getting any yet. don't know if I can switch her/them to Medicaid . I'm so lost andcranky

I suggest that you call Social Services in your county and ask for a needs assesment for your parents. They will be able to tell you not only about programs administered by the county but about many other resources that might be available to your parents. I expect that one of the things they will suggest is getting Mother on Medicaid.

Housing is a tough issue for the indigent -- ask the houseless population! Getting some guidance from a professional trained to know the options in your specific area will be very worth the effort.
