My mother in law (88) used to have a life insurance policy but I think she borrowed on it. How can I find out if she has one?

She has early stage dementia and 2 of her drug addicted sons don't know. My husband doesn't know either and acts like he doesnt care.Im an unofficial care giver because nobody else is! She lives in deplorable conditions and I worry about her.
