Where to find help financially with transport of body to another state?

NO they do not. Aging Care is a forum of information. There is no financial aid for out of state transport, it is all paid out of your pocket.

tamarafinn, sorry for your loss. Check with the funeral home about financial loans. Usually funeral homes will fly the body to another State where another funeral home will pick up the coffin. My Mom's coffin was sent many States over, and it was expensive.

Or the body can be cremated and the ashes will be expressed mail to the funeral home or whatever you wish to be sent.

In some states, a permit is required to personally transport a loved one across state lines. Google it.

Crossing state lines means the body must be embalmed and the person must be under the direction of a funeral director. Ok, so let's say you have a pickup truck and the casket fits. You drive to Texas. Now what?
Texas requires a transport permit. Hope you have one. Cemeteries can get persnickety if you don't have all the right paperwork.

It is kind of a blur now but yes, the funeral home back in PA where she had her pre-arrangements was able to arrange for air transport of my mom's body after she passed on here in AR, and we then proceeded with the funeral plan that had already been set up there. They knew all about the permits and such and I did not really have to do very much. Well, I had to pack and sign forms and gather things for her memorial service and tell everybody...but I was not hassling with airlines and permits and details of transport, which would have been too much for me at the time, for sure!

So, best to contact someone in the state you want to transport to and get them to help! Sorry for your loss, too...
