Looking for Dementia living facility for mom in fall river, ma area or the surrounding area. Would like it to be listed on Ma State Non profit facility and information needed if bed is available also would like to tour the facility.
Most facilities will invite you and mom to tour and have a meal. Look at several and don't limit yourself to non-profit. Look first for employees who engage your mother and are truly interested in her health status. Look at the other residents and ask them how they like the place. Are they at the same functional level as mom? If they are higher functioning, she may not fit in. If they are lower functioning she will be bored. A good facility will have their Nurse interview mom and assess her needs. A good facility will look clean and smell clean. A good facility will help you with the financial end and find additional financial aid. If all you hear is a sales pitch, move on.
Also check with her MD and get the social worker to help you. You might need a medical order for this level of care for insurance coverage. Also see if you can visit for dinner with your mom. You will see the kind of food, the level of care, the other residents to assess if this is a place for your mom.
