Find Care & Housing
Look for an assisted living facility that provides safe and secure environment for your mom and a place that feels more like a home. My father is living at Luvida Memory Care and the first thing I looked at that place was the staff's attitude towards residents and I must compliment that everybody is quite friendly there.

I checked a found some more things. For independent living, the Baptist Village is the only facility mentioned. This facility is called the Village Lake Suites. For assisted living, there are two places mentioned that probably vary in price. They are Tebeau House (I bet on Tebeau St) and the Pines Senior Living. Then for full care, there is the NH Satilla Care Center. You can look these facilities up and see which may fit your mother best. Good luck.

I know of two facilities in Waycross. Which one chosen depends on your mother's level of need and how much money she has. There is Satilla Nursing Home if the physical need is greater. There is a senior community at the Baptist Village if she can afford it and can live independently. I'll see if I can find anything else.

Has your mom or sister asked you to find a facility? Who has POA? I hate to ask what your nephew was convicted of, but I might want my mom out of there, too.

I am so sorry to hear of your difficult family situation. I cannot imagine the pain and struggles you must be facing.
Please contact a Certified Senior Advisor in your area (I am not affiliated, I have spent the last year trying to find affordable care for my parent and only learned about CSA's a few months ago). They are trained to assess not only your parent's medical needs, but can look at their financial situation too, and advise you on the best long-term solution. It may be that she truly does not have the funds for a private-pay only facility. Or, there may be funds to allow her to live at a wonderful ALF.
Best wishes as you find your way. I will be sending good thoughts your way.

Call her doctor and ask him to recommend some. MD's usually have knowledge of what is affordable and reliable. Call The Area Agency on Aging in Waycross for help finding a facility.
