I was told by a co-worker that social security offers caregivers of elderly/disabled parents some kind of financial assistance, but I haven't been able to find anything about it. My mother is disabled with various ailments (most recently, kidney failure where she is now on dialysis 3x per week).

I had to give up my normal job as a Property Manager, and take a lesser paying job that afforded me the flexibility I needed to be able to care for my mother.

Nearly every dime I now make is used in connection with the cost of caring for my mother. Naturally, her own Social Security is used as well.

If anyone knows of government financial assistance that I may be eligible to receive PLEASE let me know.

Thank you

OCPD patients are outwardly compliant and inwardly defiant, they are preoccupied with order and organization, making lists and checking them twice, keeping track of whos naughty or nice and judging them for their transgressions, can be very acidic with those they perceive beneath their station and very deferential to those in authority. It is typically their way or the highway, eveything must be done their way or not at all. I could go on, but since roughly 7% of the population has this personality disorder, there is a good chance that someone else on this site has a parent with this problem...and if you do, you have my heartfelt sympathy.

My husband and I have been taking care of his parents for the past 7 years. They need our support 24/7. Dad has severe CHF and other diseases and mom is in the last stages of Alzheimer's. We have asked friends and family members for support...but no one seems to have the time, interest or merely don't want to know. Needless to say, due to not being able to work to attend to their needs, we have lost our jobs, home, etc. We've tried to make money at a home based based business, but much income comes in...may enough to pay the electric bill. My question is, is there any type of financial support out there offered to caregivers taking care of their elderly parents?

I am a single mother taking care of a cerebral palsy daughter full-time at home. She is receiving homebound schooling 3 hours per week due to her medical illness. Is there any financial assistance that helps a parents or parents take care of a child when they cannot no longer work.
