I had to quit my job last month because I came home and found my Mom had been on the floor for half an hour. 7th time in a month. I had enough money for July bills, but in August I'm hosed! Applied for Unemployment Benefits, but since I quit my job I'm not too hopeful. I can't work outside the home and the "work at Home" sites I've visited have been just a bunch of Scams. Tried BCBS, Medicare, Social Security, Council on Aging, every local service I could find, and....nothing for cash for caregivers. Probably going to lose my car. Does any one have any suggestions?

I had only been on my new job for 3 months, so didn't qualify for FMLA...I tried. Mom is 80 and has a pension and Social Security, but paying for my bills will be a substantial drain on her. I would like to support myself if I can, but caring for her: helping her in and out of bed, chairs, fixing meals, doctor appts etc. , leaves little time for work. She also gets out of bed to go to the bathroom 3-4 times a night, so little sleep for me. I'm just glad she's not one of the difficult cranky pants patients I read about. I'll try Rodan & Fields. Cant't thank you enough for the lead.

It's unfortunate you quit your job as you may have qualified for a Family and Medical Leave. How old is your Mom? Does she have any assets?

There are some stay at home jobs - like Rodan & Fields - that are reputable.
