Let me give you two reasons why. We surveyed over 24,000 sessions on our web site from last year’s annual enrollment period (AEP). What we found was that in 1/3 of those sessions the person would not have had coverage for at least one of their prescription drugs heading into 2011 if they hadn’t reviewed and updated their drug coverage. And, we also found that 93% of the users were not in the drug plan with the lowest prescription drug costs. On average a person could have saved over $500 on their Medicare prescription drug costs by reviewing and updating their coverage.
For all of those reasons, most Medicare experts agree that it’s a good idea for people to take 10-15 minutes to quickly be sure their coverage still meets their needs.
