I live in PA, my mom lives in AZ, she is 88 and used a reverse mortgage and it is exhausted. She recently hospitalized and needs care on a daily basis. Putting her into a private  place cost $2200 mo and she hates it so much she tries to escape and is now considered not in her right mind. The place wants her out and she cant afford to be there anymore anyway but our questions are how can we get her to Pa closer to us and what types of benefits could she be entitled to place her somewhere where she will get medical care she needs and a safe place to live. My wife and i are already disabled ourselves and cant be much physical help let alone financial help . Please I need help.

Please get in touch with your local VA. She may be qualified to receive benefits such as survivor's pension and aid & attendance. There may be other things that can help. What she qualifies for will depend on what her yearly income is. The VA is federal, so it will be independent of the state. You can apply for it before she moves to PA if you would like.

If you decide to apply for Medicaid, she needs to establish residency in the state. Medicaid is administered through the state. There is help out there, particularly for the widows of men who served during war time. Good luck finding all the help you need. The VA often takes a while, but they pay back to the time of application if a person qualifies. (Medicaid is the same way in paying back to the time of application if you go that route.)
