He can not longer drive per Dr. request. His home is a wreck papers everywhere, no flat space is not covered with stuff. He has been stubborn about anyone moving or cleaning anything but now is the time to move quickly. I know care givers can be hired, am wondering if we can hire someone in the family to help with things and received a wage.
Caregivers will not clean out a hoarding house, their job is to take care of the client, your father.
Now, you could call a company such as 1-800-Junk or similar companies who will come in and help do the cleaning out. But if Dad is there, he would want to look at each and every piece of paper. I remember when it was time for my Dad to downsize, even though he wasn't a hoarder, every item he picked up to pack had a very long story associated with the item, thus it took weeks to get him moved to his new location.
The only guy I knew like this would spend days talking the help to death...making sure they never got any work done. Two agencies just quit rather than send their people in again.
The joke was...the cost to help Ralph? $15 per hour to work..$25 if he insists on talking to them too.
Anyway, I think you are not understanding the mindset of hoarders. He isn't going to actually do anything or allow anyone else. You will have to take him away somewhere while workers just do the job. This might not set too well!
