Well... today marks the official week-i-versary of living with Dad.

...It's not so bad. We had a couple of rough nights at first because he didn't know where he was (he thought he was in California), but surprisingly, THE DOG helped a lot. Anytime he would get confused, she would walk in the room and he would remember that I was nearby. The dog has been a godsend. Though I have a baby monitor in Dad's room so I can hear when he gets up at night, anytime he moves, she alerts me that he's moving around which has worked out.

...and as suspected, his bowel situation has at least become manageable. I cut back on the morphine (Dad doesn't merit a 3-times-a-day scheduled dose. It makes him loopy and he sleeps ALL DAY), and a couple servings of pinto beans, collard greens, and NATURAL fruit juice (pears and apples in the juicer)... things are moving around just fine without all of the suppositories, Miralax, Senna, etc. Sometimes natural just works better.

I still have a LOT to learn about managing the incontinence, but Dad has slept pretty much the whole night for the past two nights and his appetite has come back with a vengeance.

...If only I can get him to stop using his rollator as a plant holder....

Baby steps....

I just answered your other post and then saw this one. Juice, especially apple, will cause the problems you mentioned in your other post. I had to cut out Moms apple juice and coffee.

Glad things are working out so far.
