Yes, nerie! My mother's place experience the exact same thing 2 weeks ago. Everyone was on quarantine at one time or another during the 2 weeks. It began with the second floor where my mom eats even though she's a 3rd floor resident. She was quarantined as well. The darn virus struck her floor when the second floor's quarantine was lifted and poor Mom had to stay in quarantine for another week. Mom did end up getting the virus with effects lasting about 3 days. The effects were elevated temp for one day, vomiting for one and diarrhea for 2. A general blah feeling after that. Fortunately this didn't go to any other floors and all is well with the whole place now.

I was there to see Mom the day she first said that she wasn't feeling too well. I ended up getting it too, and then my husband got it. You have an upset stomach with soft stools/diarrhea on the first day, think you're all better the second and on the third and beyond you just can't shake the upset stomach. Lasted maybe 4 days here.

Be glad they told you to stay away. Oh, I'd also like to add that not everyone on both floors got it. Hopefully he will continue to be OK.

Norovirus outbreaks peak in January in the US. Nursing homes and cruise ships seem to be the worst affected. It starts as a foodborne illness and spreads rapidly in close quarters. Wash your hands anytime you enter and leave a Nursing Home or Hospital. Newer variants of the virus have been especially nasty.
