Does anyone have experience with life estate deeds, rentals, or pay back of Medicaid?

My Mom had a lawyer who spent down her few assets and got her on medicaid. She was admitted to nursing facility and not expected to live 6 mo.

Medicaid is for people without means. Not sure how she would qualify if she had rentals. By definition if you have investment property you are not without means.. Perhaps you can explain the situation.

Got back to the lawyer who got Mom on medicare and ask him to explain how he did it..
