My sister, 72, has normal pressure hydrocephalus, had a shunt installed which seemed to greatly improve her dementia. Her judgement is still greatly impaired. She has been in a locked memory unit for over 100 days and the insurance company says they cannot approve her insurance until they get all the paperwork requested. We have facilitated the acquisition of the requested records. They seem to add another doctor to the list every time we think we are within 30 days of approval. Any one else had this problem?

If they have not commenced payment within 30 days, report them to the state attorney general office in your state. Be sure you can document dates, times, who you spoke with etc. in chronological order.

She is in LasVegas, NV, her primary residence is NJ, I live in NM, the insurance company is located in VA. Which do I pick?

Pick the state she was in when she purchased the insurance. They would have jurisdiction.
