Get him to the ER immediately. He could have a serious stomach issue where if there is any food in his stomach he makes himself throw up to feel better.

Have you asked him why he does this? Does he have pain or does he feel like he's struggling to swallow and can't? You don't give much information as to why your dad does this. I would suggest calling his doctor immediately and asking him why a person does this. If he/she isn't available, take him to the ER and ask someone to help him by E-rays and tests. It sounds like there is a blockage and there could be a serious problem that could cause bleeding.

Terry, this person posted six days ago and hasn't replied to the recommendation to take him to ER. He may get dehydrated from vomiting. Just hoping she took him.

JoAnn, far too many time we get original posts where we tell the writer to take the person to the ER, and we never hear back from the original writer. I hope the writer is in the hospital with her Dad.

Did anyone think that it may be that perhaps the person may have already taken the patient to the hospital? The patient could've actually been hospitalized and the family member is just sitting with him at the hospital, which could be why they haven't replied.

Stomach problems could cause problems with eating, but so could a virus. Of course, there could also be an underlying problem called anorexia. Anorexic people also tend to vomit right after eating. This could be just about anything causing the problem, and this will only be determined by the right doctor. We can only hope for the best

I forgot to add that I once knew someone who was always getting sick from blockages, and the big problem was that he wasn't drinking enough water or other fluids to stay hydrated and keep the plumbing clear. He was always in and out of the ER until he was eventually forced into going into a nursing home where he could get the care he needed. Anytime you don't drink enough fluids, especially water, this will definitely allow toxins to build up in your system, especially your digestive area and bad bacteria breed until you eventually get sick from the bacteria. Staying hydrated is recommended for a very important reason, I saw what happened to my elderly friend on an almost daily basis, and there was nothing I could do but sit and watch as the cycle continued.

Vomiting can be caused by many things. I know that when I had ketoacidosis, it was the worst vomiting I had ever had. OFF the charts. It's life threatening. The problem is that you are so sick, you don't know how sick you are. Ever since I had that, I tell people to always check blood sugar for severe vomiting, especially if you also have body aches.
