Not in Illinois, you qualify for medicare when you are 65, but disabled people have to wait 2 years from the onset of the disability, if you are under 65, I had to fight for my disability benefits, that took me three years for SS(first denied) before I received my benefits for TRAUMATIC BRAIN INJURY, following my third stroke and another year before i received Medicare, medicaid you can get, because you are poor.
Always make photo copies and ask for photo copies of everything you fill out ot turn in, at agencies, they are notorious for losing paperwork.

I'm a bit confused. When you've been on Social Security Disability for two years you automatically qualify for Medicare. In fact they send you a Medicare card and you have to turn it down. This is what we did when my husband qualifies. We turned it down because I already carried him on my employer's insurance. Are you sure it was Medicare and not some form of the new Obamacare health insurance? If Medicare, read the letter and follow any instructions about appealing. You can also call them to talk about it. If you run into problems call the office of one of your federal senators or representative. If this is not Medicare cone back and explain this again so we can better understand the problem.

I am a lot confused. Are you both 100% disabled and recieving SS bebefits?
Why are you now asking this question when the cut off date was three months ag.
Write to Medicare or Medicaid whichever denied you and enclose photocopies of your proof of mailing and proff of receipt and ask them what you can do to rectify the situation
