Because I was still employed and had insurance thru my employment. I was planning on working thru the year. Around May 1 I decided to retire earlier(5/15/15) .The 1st week of May I filled out form for enrollment in part B.,and mailed it to social security administration in Birmingham,Ala. Was told to send to that address per phone conversation with social security.Week of 5/17/15 I had not heard anything from them so I went to SS office in Augusta,Ga and ask them about me sending this to Alabama. They could find no info on this so had me fill out another application. They told me part B would not start till August 1,2015.I am being penalized for working past 65 ,my health insurance expires 5/31/2015. I am going to continue health insurance thru my companies retiree health plan but I am not going to know how its going to work w/o plan B in place for months of June and July.I feel like this should be a exception to the rule and I should be able to get coverage sooner using Special enrollment period even thou my Initial enrollment period has not ended.I am being penalized for working past 65 and not enrolling in part b when I enrolled in part A because I had Group insurance thru my employer. Is there anything I can do?

Well if you have part A you can still go to the hospital. Without part B, just move your doctors appointments so there are none in June or July.
