Mom got out of hospital a week ago. I stayed with her for three days. Between the stress. from her hospitalization, taking care of her and being with her 24 hours a day and worrying about her most of the winter - I am physically and emotionally exausted. Just have no desire or energy to get off sofa. Things should be better for a while. I hope!! But how do I recover? Need to be ready for the next disaster with her. Plus I need to get my own life back. Husband can't understand my mom stress. He doesnt get why I dont want to do anything.

I know what you mean Hadnuff...you are always on pins and needles waiting for the other shoe to drop. Try and get some rest; take a hot bath, read a good book, or something that will re-energize you. Too bad we don't take batteries right?? Then we could just replace them when we wear out....

Sometimes you just pray for an intervention from God that brings outside, 3rd party into the equation, like an illness or accident that sends one to hospital, and the social worker will find out what is actually going on at home, and once this 3rd party knows about it, somehow they can explain it to the caregiver in a way that is accepted. Best wishes.
