Mother (87), wants to stay her room now..thinking this is an apt

Chappy, I would suggest Mom be checked for an urinary tract infection or another type of infection.... such infections can cause an elder to change their routine, become angry, etc. If antibiotics bring Mom back to her old self, great.... if not, then maybe the dementia is advancing.

One day my Dad was seeing ants on the wall and in his food. Turned out he had a lung infection that cleared up with prescription meds. No more bugs.

She is eating well, now doesn't ask for tea every half hour or so, so I make sure she has something to drink, snacks and meals. She's been with me oof and on since last year but fulltime since February...this morning she's mad and won't say a word..I don't know..It's going to be three days now..I'm concerned for her..just wondering if this is normal with dementia. Normally when she is upset, she forgets. Her short term memory is like ten minutes or less. I think this is different.

Chappy, according to your profile your Mom is now living with you. Where was she living prior to moving in?

If your Mom had dementia, moving has a huge impact on a person. Right now her room is her safe haven as I assume many of her things are in that room. Give her time to adjust.

My Dad just moved into an Assisted Living suite [bedroom with bath] and we tried to move as much of his furniture and personal items as we could fit in there. We were able to put his dresser to the right side of his bed like he has had it for decades so when he wakes up he sees his dresser and knows he is in his room. It must be rattling to wake up in a new room the first night.

Is she eating and taking care of herself in all the necessary ways?
