In January she fell fractured her hip had surgery to repair, She is wheelchair bound. Her income less that $1300 a month she can't afford to be housed anywhere. Ive been with her since 2008, I pay her bills which is my money. I retired in 2008 from my state job to take care of her. I have siblings but only one comes down monthly to help. There is no monetary given to her support other than what I am supplying. My son and grandchildren help me a lot and I thank God I have them. I am considering contacting NJ Dept of Aging to see if any help is available. I was told the governor signed legistation in regard to family care being paid. if this is true it would help us considerably.

Find Care & Housing
Has your Mom applied for Medicaid? If not, get her signed up, that way Medicaid can pay for your Mom's nursing home cost if your Mom needs a higher level of care, or occasional help around her house. Also check with your Agency on Aging to see what programs are available.

Governor Christie signed the CARE Act in 2014. rothkofflaw but this act does not say anything about family caregivers being paid unless there is another Bill. Taxes in NJ would go sky high if the State paid family members to be caregivers to their spouse, parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, siblings, grandchildren, children.

Did Mom go to rehab after her hip surgery? If she did was it possible to transfer from there to a nursing home on Medicare? Or are you committed to keeping her at home. It is never too early to contact Hospice. Even if she does not qualify for the program at this time they will know what services are available.

I'll tell you who gives those kind of mortgages. Predatory lenders like WF, that's who. They picked people like your mother hoping she will fall behind on payments, then they demand the full amount or they foreclose. Evil. Pure evil.

Thank you for the information. I recently secured her birth certificate which is needed for medicaid. Heer income is less than $1300. 00 a month, the bills fll on me to pay. She also took out an equity loan, but wells fargo swears they don't have the infor since it was acquired when the bank merged. At the time my mother was 89 years old. Who in hell gives an 89 year old a 30 year mortgage. Thi bill wont be done until 2034.

And WF will give you a bad time about your POA documents.....they will ask for your original (no copies) under no circumstances give them your original....have them call the lawyer who made the POA document and they will start treating you better.
