When my mother was dying of cancer, her doctor said that whatever she needed to help with the pain he'd prescribe. One of the things we thought about was marijuana, which was supposed to help with pain as well as nausea. My friend had a friend who has MD and has to use it for his pain. He gave my friend a marijuana caramel which we all thought was a great idea. But my mother just would NOT try it. She couldn't get past the whole drug thing, so by the time she was finally taking the drug via capsule, it was too late for any benefit since she was too far gone. Maybe people don't know that there's other ways to use marijuana other than smoking it. Personally, I'm going the caramel way if I ever get to that point!

My son works at a dispensary and he marvels at the number of seriously ill people that he helps per day. No, you do not have to smoke it. And there are various blends for whatever you need. I am getting over the "drug" thing. Percocet, oxycodone, etc., now those are drugs.

Tell her to go for it - it's a hell of a lot better for her system than those nasty pseudo-heroin drugs that are out there (percocet, roxycet, vicodin, etc. etc.) that are addictive as hell and cause a lot more issues than marijuana does. They've got it in liquid form as well, that you just put under your tongue, lollipops, chocolate bars, brownies - definitely don't have to smoke it anymore!
