My mother has Kaiser insurance and lives in Southern California, I live In Kingman, AZ. Kaiser does not have any facilities/doctors/hospitals in Arizona. My concerned is when she gets to the point of not being able to care for herself, how can she come live with me and keep her insurance. She is a 2x ovarian cancer survivor, and now is starting treatment on the 3rd time. My fiance's mother also has Kaiser and we both agree we will take care of them when the time comes. Anyone out there ever encountered this situation... just started on this site.

When your mother gets to the point where she cannot care for herself perhaps she will qualify for Medicaid coverage -- depending on her resources and income. You might start looking into this, in your state, if that is where she will reside. Medicaid is not just for nursing home care. It also covers in-home care as needed.

Well, your mother has medicare right? Couldn't you look into a supplemental insurance in AZ? There are so many insurances that take part in this. Does your mother have AARP? Great resource as well. If you are proactive before the time arrives for her to actually move in with you, you will already be prepared to switch to new insurance. Hopefully, someone else on here has been through this sort of thing before. This was all I could think of. Good Luck.
