My Dad has been using a hospital type bed in his home for the past 6 yrs. Kaiser is now denying this benefit stating that he no longer qualifies. Does the VA has some kind of Durable Medical Equipment benefit?

Yes I think they do . My Father who was a WWII combat veteran recieved a wheelchair. He was told this is yours, and we donated it to the local Area Agency on Aging when he passed away. You could also check with your local Area Agency on Aging to see if they could help. take care, J

Ask his VA doctor if the VA supplies hospital type beds and if so, have him/her put in a request for one. My husband has received many items thru the VA - cane, walker, bathroom scales, diabetic socks and shoes- a wedge to elevate his head in bed , BP monitor etc.

I hope you get some answers. I just want to say that Hospice gets them free if he qualifies. If not, ask Daycares, and look online for one at amazon or ebay, you never know. Our daycare always has people who want to donate them to anyon who can use them. Sometimes the local police or dept of aging has supplies, Good luck.
