Medicare will pay for nursing care by a doctor's orders after someone leaves the hospital. This care is limited. Medicaid, on the other hand (for those who have few assets and have qualified because of this) may pay for some in-home care.
It's unfortunate, but most of us are on our own with in-home care unless there is a good long-term care insurance policy in place that will help pay for in-home care, or if you live in a state where Medicaid will help. You can go to your state Web site, however, and type in "aging." Follow the links to see what your state offers. Good luck, Carol
