It can but so can a lot of other things. It sounds like your exposure was brief. I think most cases are airborne. It isn't that you can't get it from surfaces but that doesn't seem to be the main way that it spreads.

I'd get tested and I'd stay in isolation until I got the results if I were you. Hope you feel better soon.

Best thing to do is go get a test.

Sounds like you really barely have any kind of relationship with this person.

My families (3 of my daughters') have been exposed to COVID repeatedly over the past months. FINALLY, one family got it and now we have 4 grandkids and their mom and dad who are OK. My other 2 daughters are in and out of rolling quarantine, but nobody else has had it.

It took my daughter 3 weeks of living in a house with one or two positive cases of COVID to finally catch it. So---I doubt the slight touching that went on is going to be an issue--but for your peace of mind, go get a test.

Sounds like hallucinations is kind of the norm for this person. A high fever can cause them too. When I get an 'aura' type migraine, I sort of hallucinate until the aura passes.

You know months ago we had a poster named DyingDad who asked that same question. At the time I answered no, but I have since found out that in rare cases it may. And both she and her mother were positive; the mother died of it, returned home to die after being removed from ventilator.
This is the vulnerable adult in your household? Has she hallucinated before? Is she coughing? Does she have fever? And it was her DIL and the grandchild? At least the vulnerable adult should be isolated, with temp twice daily, watch for other symptoms, do O2 oximetry. As I understand it she has caregivers? THEY are also at risk after she is exposed to a positive child, who can be a carrier as can she.
For you, with no contact with any of them (I am assuming), you should be safe; but I am not clear what her living quarters are compared to where you are.

So if you walk in the front door, my door is to the right. She is up a few stairs in an area over the garage. I go up once a week to grab jugs for water. Do not talk or acknowledge her.

So yesterday, I get a call to check on her, so I did, she was seeing kittens and accusing imaginary people of stealing her money she said very dark black women were stealing. I made a call on speaker and she touched my cell phone. She cried to the person about hallucinations. Her calls to her son went on all night. Last night I said, you better check her for a UTI cause that is what happens. I was told, he was working and did not have time. Ok, not my problem.

So, today the worker came to talk to me, told me about the exposure phone call. The worker is older, diabetic, etc. She is freaking out about exposure. Right now, I am just pissed someone knowingly came to my house with it.

I have been exposed a few times before and never gotten it that I know of. I quarantined a few weeks ago, nothing.

With the Parkinsons, past UTIs, headaches and hallucinations not this bad though, it is common. So, since 1st exposure, yesterday was 5 days. I will not take her to get tested, it is not my responsibility. I am trying to figure out if this is a POSSIBLE side effect because I also will not take her temperature as that is also not my responsibility.

I can quarantine again but really do not want to. Plus my 101 yr old grandma stopped by Saturday so I am figuring out if I need to worry about her. She is diabetic and old.

So its your DIL? Or someone your DIL knows? Could you be dealing with stress over this? Testing is free alot of places,, have someone take you and at least you'll know. I have not heard of hallucinations, but this thing hits everyone differently. The main thing we are seeing right now is bad headaches, like migraines. Good luck!

Stacy, I was wondering if you had a fever? As high fevers can cause hallucinations.

Do you have a covid phone line to call & just discuss your risk with?

I have nothing wrong. I dont know if the person has a temp, I avoid her like the plague. I wont go near her now either. She has Parkinsons, open sores, heart problems, etc. She always has a headache.

If she doesnt press her help button, her workers report it or get tested, it is not on me. I am trying to figure if I need to quarantine now.

Do you have a fever / high temp?

Are you diabetic or have blood sugar issues?

Migraine without pain - just the visual aura??

***Get on the phone to a covid or medical hotline***

None of the major medical websites ( CDC, mayoclinic, webmd, etc.) list hallucinations as a COVID symptom. More info would be helpful. What else is going on besides hallucinations?
