My mother has a habit of sticking her hands in her briefs. I've tried onsies, she will mess with the brief area over the onsie so much she moves it out of place and makes a mess still. It does prevent her from getting it on her hands and underneath her nails but doesn't prevent the messes completely. I've used big safety pins to pin her pants to her top, she removes them or still gets her hands in even with them on.

I don't have a solution for her behavior but I would bring it up to her doctor. It could be anxiety or another reason that can be addressed with meds. Do not tie her hands together, that would be considered abuse.

Here is a website to find special clothing for people with cognitive impairment. Like when LOs strip off their clothes or do what your LO is doing. I hope this helps.

Like Geaton said. You can also check amazon, silvert's or buck and buck for one piece jumpsuits (look under adaptive clothing for dementia)

The onsie outfit is a masterful solution! I knew nothing about adaptive clothing. Does your Mom do this only when soiled? If so, trying to keep ahead of that action is good, but if it is more or less a cradling of the genitals do know that is quite common in later dementia. Almost a protective action that is somewhat of the primitive mind.

We had a similar problem with my father in law.  What worked for us and for him was we purchased a few pairs of long johns and he wore those under his clothes, like one of the posts said it did not take care of the whole problem until we realized that he had an excessive moisture problem from sitting in the wheelchair or from just a damp diaper.  We began using a bit of cornstarch in his diaper and it worked wonders, felt terrible it took us so long to figure it out but glad we did .
