My mother keeps trying to escape, what can I do?

My dad has wandered off at least a half dozen times in the last year so we took the following steps. We put deadbolt locks on both doors that require a key to open them. My mother keeps the key hidden from him. We got him an ID bracelet that was supposedly not removable but he went crazy trying to get it off. So I ordered adhesive labels with his name, address, phone # and put them on every item of his clothing. And finally, because the police picked him up on a couple occasions when he was wandering and confused, the cops who work out of our local precinct are now aware of who he is and where he lives, even though we live in a big city they've been very caring and helpful. A good thing for you to do would be to reach out to your local police precinct to make them aware that your mom may leave the house unattended.
