I care for my mom in my own home, she pays me a salary and pays all the required taxes, ss etc. I also pay taxes, ss etc. on the income. in exhange I give her room, board, utilities, transportation, as well as personal caregiving. all the monies she gives me are reported to the IRS as a salary, so I am paying taxes on the entire amount. Can I deduct my expenses somehow and get some of the taxes back?

You will need to contact the IRS helpline or ask an income tax preparer if you could use IRS Schedule C to deduct expenses that are allowed.
